What a day or 2

The ride in yesterday was nothing less than incredible.  Yes I cried when I saw Jerusalem, although it was nothing likwhat I expected.  It was dark but awesome.  As we entered from the Dead Sea, we saw Bedoin tents and Camel along the major roadway the a freeway curved around the twinkling city oh many hills.  Areas of total darkness amidst the twinkling s. nothing like a 21 century American City.  The Bus station was underground and then I started remembering all the bombings at bus stations, then I remembered that 1/3 of Israelis are currently security and travel on all buses, and .80% have served in the military even my friend Hannah and she has a black belt in Karate.  Caught another bus to her very nice apartment on King David just a block from the King David Hotel.
Along the way was picturesque, with date palm groves, 2 sets of mountains, an unbelievable sunset and moonrise, quick stop at Massada and Dead Sea but will return to both.   The most impressive thing we saw was the HUGH sections of land devoted to plants.  They do all the country's gardening in select areas of green houses.  You did not see the plants as they were covered with a gauze like fabrics, like we do green houses.  They have incredible vegetables and I guess that is how.  Then the salt. Mining from the sea of salt( Dead Sea). Then  the cattle haulers everywhere.  They had bales of hay at the feedlots but saw no hay fields yet.  But there are 2 places in the country where they grow cattle.  One in the south one in the north.  A lot of these operations are worked by people who live in a kibbutz.  They live there, work there and all their needs are provided in exchange for their labor.
Amazingly the bus left Eilat exactly on time and arrived in Jerusalem exactly on time.  We passed a couple of armed guard stations along the way.but no incidences.  It was a great day.  More soon about today.
